    ZEEHOS

    Zeehos has a history dating back to 1908, when Queen Emma opened the Zeehospitium, a sanatorium for children with tuberculosis. During World War II, Zeehos formed part of the Atlantic Wall, and in the late 1950s it was used as a rehabilitation centre. One hundred years after its opening by her grandmother, Princess Margriet opened the first care home in the new Zeehos neighbourhood in Katwijk aan Zee in 2008.

    Zeeduinen is located within the protected Natura 2000 area of Meijendel & Berkheide. In this wide stretch of dunes, characterised by a varied and expansive dune landscape, certain animals, plants and their natural habitats are protected in order to preserve biodiversity.
